One (1) full-time Athletic Director at Chino Valley High School for the 2026-2027-2026 school year. This is twelve (12) month, full-time position with benefits. The Chino Valley School District is on a 4-day work week Monday through Thursday.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The High School Athletic Director is responsible for the overall administration, supervision, and development of the interscholastic athletic program. This includes ensuring compliance with all district, state, and league rules and regulations, managing budgets, hiring and evaluating coaches, scheduling events, overseeing facilities, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for student-athletes, coaches, and fans. Provide student-athletes with a positive coaching experience that fosters team work, leadership and resilience. The Athletic Director serves as a key liaison between the school, community, and athletic organizations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program Administration: Oversee all aspects of the interscholastic athletic program, including budgeting, scheduling, transportation, equipment management, and facility maintenance.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to all district, state (e.g., National Federation (NFHS), Arizona Interscholastic Administrators Association), and league rules and regulations governing eligibility, sportsmanship, and competition. Stay current on rule changes and interpretations. Attend all necessary association meetings.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the athletic department budget, including revenue generation, (e.g., gate receipts, sponsorships) expense control and projecting future cost of equipment, facilities, uniforms and personnel. Prepare and present budget reports as required.
- Personnel Management: Hire, supervise, evaluate, and mentor coaches and other athletic staff. Conduct regular performance reviews and address personnel issues as needed. Coordinate hiring of coaches with school administration and Human Resources.
- Scheduling: Develop and manage game schedules for all sports, coordinating with other schools, officials, and facilities. Arrange transportation for away games.
- Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of athletic facilities, ensuring safety and functionality. Coordinate facility usage and scheduling.
- Equipment Management: Develop and implement procedures for the purchase, inventory, maintenance, and storage of athletic equipment. Ensure equipment safety and compliance with regulations.
- Student-Athlete Development: Encourage and promote sportsmanship, character development, and academic excellence, team work, leadership and improving athletic performance.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, parents, school administration, and the community. Maintain open lines of communication and address concerns promptly.
- Public Relations: Promote the athletic program and build positive relationships with the community, media, and alumni. Attend community events and represent the school at athletic functions. Provide news releases and information regarding athletic activities.
- Fundraising: Explore and implement fundraising opportunities to support the athletic program, in accordance with school and district policies.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a strategic plan for the athletic program, setting goals and objectives for continuous improvement.
- Professional Development: Stay current on best practices in athletic administration and coaching through professional development opportunities.
- Perform Miscellaneous Job-Related Duties as Assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUREMENTS:
- Knowledge of district, state, and league rules and regulations governing high school athletics.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and personnel effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, student-athletes, parents, and the community.
- Ability to work evenings and weekend hours including both in outdoor and indoor settings.
- Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in education, administration, sports management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Experience in athletic administration, coaching, or a related field, preferably at the high school level or higher (i.e. college or professional).
