TITLE: Certified Nursing Assistant/EMT at Chino Valley High School                  STATE CODE: Varies 

 

REPORTS TO:  District Nurse & Principal                                           FSLA STATUS: Non-Exempt

 

POSITION:

Opening for (1) one Certified Nursing Assistant/EMT position.  This is a full-time (0.9), school year position at Chino Valley High School and includes benefits. The Chino Valley Unified School District is on a 4-day work week Monday through Thursday, 9 hours per day.

 

DESCRIPTION:

Primary responsibility will be to assist the District Nurse in clerical and health care services and assist.  Duties are varied and include: providing first aide to students and personnel, filing health records, completing reports, answering the phone and scheduling appointments and other duties as required.   The position also involves a wide variety of secretarial duties in support of the Principal, staff, students and community.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent with some health care experience and training preferred.  Must have a current CPR card and have completed a Red Cross First Aide course or its equivalent.  Must be able to assist with lifting objects 20-50 pounds short distances (20 feet or less).  Previous experience in an office and/or school setting and working with children experience is desired.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Provides support to the staff to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment. 
• Provide emergency care, first aid, and nursing services at school sites in keeping with State regulations and school policy.
• Maintains student health records including immunizations, religious exemptions and medical exemptions and notifies the District Nurse of any deficiencies.
• Physical Screening including height, weight, vision and hearing.
• Referrals to appropriate medical professionals for students in need.
• Ensure supplies and equipment necessary for patient care are ordered and stored.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

• Have personal communication skills and traits that promote a child friendly atmosphere, and be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and safety procedures. 
• Be able to communicate orally and in writing with students and their families. 
• Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for students. 
• Student supervision skills.
• Access to and knowledgeable in emergency procedure.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

•  Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate or Emergency Medical Technician Certificate (EMT).
