REPORTS TO: AgriScience Instructor / Farm Manager FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:
- This position involves maintaining the Cooper Ag Center and farm directly supervised by Cooper Ag Farm Manager. This is a 6 month job.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure safety procedures are followed and personal protective equipment is utilized
- Property weed control
- Watering fields
- Fertilize fields
- Planting fields
- Baling fields
- Livestock care and feeding
- Security of the premises while working
- Maintenance of equipment
- Keeping roads maintained
- Fencing maintained
- Small pivot repair
- Cleaning up debris or other things that would tarnish the look of the Cooper Ag Center
- Putting lists together of items needed and giving to the Farm Manager
- Student Assistant will not cut nor mow the farm fields
QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 16 years old or older.
- Must be able to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Osha-10 Agriculture
- Continuously follows safety procedures & utilizes personal protective equipment
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills; listening, following directions, and speaking.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. is required.
- Physical capabilities to operate heavy machinery and conduct continuous manual labor.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Completed or enrolled in 3rd year of AgriScience program at CVHS.
- Knowledge and related experience with farming & heavy machinery desired.
- OSHA-10 Agriculture Certification
- Active CVHS FFA Chapter Member with participation in Career & Leadership Development Events.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work Environment involves no physical risks or hazardous conditions
- Work environment involves slight physical risks that require basic safety precautions (safety glasses, lab coats, rubber gloves etc.)
X Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following detailed safety precautions (such as wearing respirators, handling hazardous materials, and working with industrial machinery.)
