Job Title: Head Football Coach

Job Summary:
The Head Football Coach is responsible for the comprehensive management and development of the school's football program, adhering to the Chino Valley Unified School District policies, AIA rules, student health protocols, and league/conference regulations. The coach will foster a positive and supportive environment, promote student-athlete development both athletically and academically, and ensure the program's success through effective coaching, organization, fiscal responsibility, and communication.
Responsibilities:
Program Management and Administration:
- Complete all preseason paperwork accurately and promptly, including coach paperwork, player registration, practice schedules, and team rosters, in cooperation with the athletic office.
- Communicate effectively with assistant coaches regarding roles, duties, and expectations.
- Respond to requests for information from the athletic office in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all Chino Valley Unified School District policies, administrative directives, AIA rules/regulations, and league/conference rules/regulations.
- Consult and communicate with the Athletic Director regarding player discipline, scheduling, parent concerns, and officiating concerns.
- Manage program budget and purchase orders in accordance with school procedures.
- Provide consistent and proper supervision of athletes at all times and all venues.
- Ensure proper care of school facilities and equipment.
- Maintain a detailed inventory of team equipment/uniforms and provide an updated report to the athletic department, including a list of award winners.
- Submit fundraising monies or collected monies to the office staff within 24 business hours of receipt.
- Ensure mandatory CVUSD training is completed prior to season officially beginning and prior to coaching in an official capacity including any Assistant Coach(es).
- Other duties as assigned.
Coaching and Athlete Development:
- Conduct themselves in a professional and sportsmanlike manner at all times.
- Teach proper fundamental football philosophy, skills, and knowledge in a manner that promotes safe execution of sport specific skills.
- Follow all safety protocols related to injuries, weather hazards and any sport specific health protocols.
- Develop and implement well-organized practice plans and schedules.
- Make effective game-time adjustments related to personnel and strategies.
- Provide positive reinforcement and constructive criticism to student-athletes.
- Provide participation opportunities for all team members, balancing ability, effort, and team competitiveness.
- Foster a team environment that reflects enthusiasm, motivation, proper fundamentals, and good sportsmanship.
- Continue to learn new football strategies and trends.
Relationships and Communication:
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for working with middle/high school student-athletes.
- Communicate effectively and appropriately with student-athletes, parents/guardians and school district personnel.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with student-athletes, parents/guardians, school administration, faculty, and coaching staff.
- Communicate respectfully with opponents and game officials.
- Collaborate with the athletic trainer regarding student-athlete physical well-being.
- Show genuine interest in student-athletes' academic experiences.
- Communicate and collaborate with lower-level program coaches to enhance the overall program.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience coaching football, preferably at the high school level.
- Thorough knowledge of football rules, techniques, and strategies.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, parents, and the community.
- Valid coaching certification or license (if required by the state).
- CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Must have or be able to obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Evaluations:
- Performance will be evaluated based on the Chino Valley Unified School District's Head Coach Evaluation form.
- The Head Coach will be responsible for evaluating their Assistant Coaches.
