Description

Seeking one (1) full-time Special Education and EDP Counselor/Social Worker for the 2025-2026 school year. This is full-time position with benefits. The Chino Valley Unified School District is on a 4–day work week Monday through Thursday.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Special Education and the Director of Special Education, the Counselor for Special Education and EDP programs will provide individual and group counseling sessions according to the requirements indicated in IEP’s and EDP programming specifications. Parent/Guardian consent is required. The position could also include parent groups and staff/faculty trainings related to behavioral-health.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provide individual counseling for students according to the required minutes indicated in their IEP’s. Parental consent required
  • Provide counseling to students who do not have it indicated in their IEP’s but parental consent has been signed.
  • Provide group counseling sessions to students
  • Provide social skills groups and counseling according to the requirements of the special education and EDP programming
  • Obtain parental consent prior to providing mental-health services
  • All parental consent forms will be given to Assistant Special Ed. Director within 5 days of obtaining consent.
  • Counseling minutes, students’ names, and notes will be closely documented and filed with the special education office a minimum of monthly.
  • Will assist with mental-health crisis situations in the district when requested
  • Will provide trainings with faculty and staff regarding mental-health issues, interventions, de-escalation, or as otherwise indicated
  • Will possibly provide trainings for parents regarding mental-health components as it relates to parenting, mental health, and development
  • Will participate in meetings that address mental-health needs for students as requested

 


QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have or obtain a counseling or school social worker certificate/license approved and filed with the state of Arizona.
  • Must have or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Knowledge of children’s mental health and behavioral issues.
  • Understand classroom and pedagogical concerns
  • Have experience in consulting with parents, teachers, school administrators and others to conduct assessments and make recommendations.


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree or higher from an accredited college or university in school counseling or social work.
  • Experience working effectively with the EDP population.
  • A minimum of 5 years of counseling preferred.
  • Knowledge of EDP (behaviorally-based programs), requirements, and laws.
  • Knowledge of FBA/BIP's.
  • Experience working in an educational setting.

      (safety glasses, lab coats, rubber gloves etc.)
