POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Responsibilities will include providing support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for assisting special education and students with behavioral needs during transport to and from school and/or special activities; assisting students on and off the bus; and ensuring the safety of students.  The bus aide is vital to ensuring that the bus driver provides a safe transportation service that complies with school district guidelines and gets each student to their destination.

     

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for assisting students with a variety of behavioral or special education needs during transport to and from school and/or special activities.
  • Monitor student safety.
  • Help bus evacuations during emergencies.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
  • Child supervision skills.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have or be able to obtain an Arizona (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card. 
  • First Aid and CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  X Work Environment involves no physical risks or hazardous conditions
     Work environment involves slight physical risks that require basic safety precautions (safety glasses, lab coats, rubber             gloves etc.)

     Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following detailed               safety precautions (such as wearing respirators, handling hazardous materials, and working with industrial machinery.)
