Description

Seeking one (1) full-time EDP Teacher, SpEd at TECC for the 2023-2024 school year. This is full-time position with benefits. The Chino Valley Unified School District is on a 4 –day work week Monday through Thursday.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Under general supervision, the EDP special education teacher works with children with Emotional Disabilities and/or psychiatric disorders ,using or modifying the general education curriculum to meet the child’s individual needs, as well as, a behaviorally-based program that is highly structured.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Special education teachers help to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student.
  • Write, closely monitor, and implement Functional Behavior Assessments and
    Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Plans, develops, writes, and implements curriculum and educational programs in accordance with educational/treatment goals and students' abilities.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Interacts with and participates in consultations with specialists as appropriate in order to plan and prepare each child's individualized educational program in accordance with goals.
  • Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of state standards.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Prepares appropriate documentation and reports on programs and on student progress.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • May coordinate and lead the work of others.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Follows the selected behaviorally-based program selected with fidelity.
  • Effectively uses de-escalation strategies to address students’ behaviors.

 

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate with Special Education Endorsement or certificate.

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university in special education.
  • Five years of successful classroom teaching experience including three years as a special education teacher.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Work Environment involves no physical risks or hazardous conditions

 

Work environment involves slight physical risks that require basic safety precautions

(safety glasses, lab coats, rubber gloves etc.)

 

X Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that

require following detailed safety precautions (such as wearing respirators, handling
hazardous materials, and working with industrial machinery, de-escalation and safety
restraints of students.)
